Jan 26, 2016   Ana   Comments Off on Sex, Drugs & Rock’n’Roll: 11 Reasons We Can’t WAIT For Vinyl   Vinyl

Vinyl is the hottest TV series of 2016, and it hasn’t even started yet. Written by Mick Jagger, Vinyl is set in the 1970s New York punk scene, so if you’re picturing sex, drugs and rock’n’roll, you’d be about right. From the glam-rock fashion to the stellar cast, here’s why you should tune in when Vinyl starts this February.

1. If you’re going to get anyone to pen a drama about the rock scene in ’70s New York, Mick Jagger is your only man. We’d put money on Vinyl being inspired by Mick’s own exploits…

2. Vinyl stars rock’n’roll royalty. Mick’s son, James Jagger, plays Kip Stevens, lead singer of punk band The Nasty Bits. The actor looks a dead ringer for his dad – check him out with Juno Temple below.

3. You NEED to see Olivia Wilde as the super-glam wife of record exec Bobby Cannavale, and Juno Temple as an ambitious assistant at the label’s A&R department. She also has a very close relationship to some of the bands.

4. Martin Scorsese, the man behind The Wolf Of Wall Street, Boardwalk Empire and Shutter Island, produced the series. Even the trailer makes Vinyl look like a blockbuster movie.

5. What we would do to play dress-up in Vinyl’s wardrobe department… there are suede platform boots, flared jeans and sequinned catsuits, and that’s just for the boys. Yes, yes and yes again.

6. Can we talk about that soundtrack, too?! Classic tracks from Iggy and the Stooges and New York Dolls feature in the Vinyl trailers, with newer music from Kaleo and The Raconteurs too. Check out the YouTube mix below for a taste of what Vinyl has to give and crank things up to 11.

7. David Bowie, Jimi Hendrix, Andy Warhol and even Mick Jagger – we spy some serious lookalike cameos in the Vinyl trailer.

8. Remember Ray Romano? The Everybody Loves Raymond star is back as Zak Yankovich, also working at the record label.

9. There are 10 whole episodes to enjoy – with a promise of more episodes to come. Sorry, early nights…

10. The US don’t get to watch it first – while Vinyl is an American series, the first episode (a two-hour special, no less) is being simulcast on February 15th at 2am on Sky Atlantic.

11. And if you can’t stay up that late, it’ll be repeated at 9pm that night.
