April 16, 2016   Ana   Comments Off on ETOnline: ‘Vinyl’ Star Juno Temple on Threesomes With Mick Jagger’s Son and Hopes for Season 2

Appearing on screen since she was 17, Juno Temple has celebrated a few firsts on set – especially on Vinyl, the HBO drama about a record executive desperately trying to keep his label afloat. Temple, now 26, plays Jamie Vine, an ambitious assistant who has her eyes set on a permanent A&R position and the sexy lead singer of the Nasty Bits played by James Jagger. (Yes, the son of The Rolling Stones lead singer and co-creator of Vinyl, Mick Jagger.)

Vinyl just so happens to be the starlet’s first series, following a string of notable film roles, including Atonement, The Dark Knight Rises, Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, and Black Mass. “I was pretty terrified about the idea of TV, if I’m being truly honest,” Temple tells ET ahead of the series’ finale, which airs on Sunday, April 17.

“What if I want to do an independent film in Milwaukee or Australia? You’ve locked yourself down. It’s kind of a daunting thought,” Temple explains. Now that she’s survived the first season, however, she’s grown comfortable with the commitment, which she compares to a marriage, as well as the fear of wanting to philander with other projects.

Interview With Juno Temple

HBO

This episode is a big turning point for Jamie — Aunt Bellamy throws her out and she hooks up with Kip and Alex. How did you react when you read the script?

Juno Temple

I definitely didn’t see all of that coming! I really didn’t expect Bellamy to kick her out. I thought she would be there for Jamie, would continue to be an ally against her mother. Not only is Jamie heartbroken after this happens, she has nowhere to go, and I think that makes her put even more walls up. She doesn’t want to turn up at Kip’s place, she doesn’t want to rely on him — she wants to fend for herself.

Also, they haven’t yet committed to being boyfriend and girlfriend. They’re more like lovers so moving in with him pushes her into a relationship she’s not prepared to have. She really likes Kip, but Jamie knows he’s her golden ticket at American Century. What happens if you fuck it up?

April 11, 2016   Ana   Comments Off on Jamie Vine From ‘Vinyl’ Isn’t A Real Person, But Juno Temple Wants Her To Meet Punk Legends

It’s always a good thing when your work aligns with your passions and for Juno Temple, that means acting on a show that centers something she cares deeply about: music. “I like listening to all of my music on vinyl, I really do,” Temple tells Bustle, immediately realizing how meta it sounds since she currently stars as Jamie Vine on HBO’s Vinyl. But it’s clear how much she genuinely means that. “What I like with music is listening to an album beginning to end to listen to the story.”

It’s safe to say that as an A&R assistant at Vinyl‘s American Century Records, Temple’s character would agree with this sentiment. Jamie Vine is not a real person from music history, but over the course of the series’ first season, she’s proven to have an ear for innovation that just may help her discover a soon-to-be icon. While her associates are busy searching out another classic rock ‘n’ roll star, Jamie sets her sights on something much more ambitious: inventing punk. Fittingly, when I ask Temple what real ’70s stars she would like to see portrayed on Vinyl next — since the series has already featured depictions of artists like Alice Cooper — she lists punk legends.Vinyl animated GIF

“I hope we go into the world of CBGB’s, the real punk stuff,” Temple says. “The Ramones and people like Television would be so cool. How great would it be to see young Iggy Pop?” The 26-year-old also says that she would be a fan of Vinyl‘s own punk act, The Nasty Bits, if they were a real band. “I would have had a total meltdown over Kip Stevens,” she says of the band’s fictional lead singer. “He’s so angry… and such a babe.”
