Earlier this month, Juno was the last guest on the nightly talk show ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’, where she promoted the 5th season of ‘Fargo’ very efficiently, despite saying nothing about the series itself. Here, she said something that many news outlets picked up and it garnered quite a little sensation – it involves the famous expressionless killer from the ‘Halloween’-franchise, Michael Myers and as it turns out it’s not exactly true. Juno has said things before that were not true, but they were all related to her roles in the past and because she’s known as someone who did as many movies as she could and had many-many roles, despite her young age, it’s understandable, if she forgot some of them. For example, when ‘Vinyl’ came out, she said that’s her first series, but she already appeared in two episodes of ‘Drunk History’. But those were really small roles and she could easily have forgotten them, especially how that series itself is completely forgotten now (sadly, that’s true for ‘Vinyl’ as well).

Here, in the aforementioned ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’ show, she told the story of how she grew up in Michael Myers’ house from the original ‘Halloween’ and how she didn’t knew this for a long time. News websites and Jimmy Kimmel himself took this info at face value and spread it over the internet. I’ve seen this 1978 movie in question on October 30th and did a thorough research of it for my movie-review site. The info I’ve found was that the house was used as a chiropractor’s office, then it was turned into a museum of the ‘Halloween’-franchise, so when I saw Juno’s interview, I thought “when was this happening exactly?”.

Well, I wasn’t the only one who questioned this claim. On Instagram, the user halloweendailynews has published a picture that grabbed my attention and I’ve clicked on it to read what others have to say about this. There I’ve found a comment by the actor christopher_gomez81 (who was actually in ‘TDKR‘, which also features Juno!) and I’ve asked him for more info, so here’s what he wrote:

“This is false, she grew up in one of the houses used as The Doyle or Wallace House. And she needs to be called out on this. (Editor’s note: Those were houses of the main character’s two friends who get killed in the first movie.)

because in 1988, the real Muers (sic!) house was physically moved down the street to the intersection Mission and Meridian Street in South Pasadena. After it was moved it was used for commercial space. No one has lived in it. In the 90’s, The Myers House was a chiropractor ‘s office. Since then, the various rooms have been used as offices for insurance companies and writers.

My apologies in also not directly answering the question. I frequently visited the house as far back as 1997.”

The video published by Halloween Daily News reached the same conclusion: It was not the Myers house, but one of the other two houses, where Michael killed his earliest victims.

Now, is what she said an outright lie? I think it’s more like a mistake, information clouded by the passage of time, since Juno says she was a little girl, when they’ve lived there. I’m sure that her father, as a film director, knew the precise information (or he should have known). Maybe the little girl, who had this obscure memory of tourists visiting her family home, now, as an adult, didn’t looked up if what she thought about this was true or not and probably haven’t seen the original ‘Halloween’ (or even if she did, she couldn’t recognize the house). She said something Halloween-related, close to this holiday, to spice up her interview, since she was forbidden to talk about ‘Fargo’. I can even imagine that it was Jimmy Kimmel’s team who came up with this information and it was backed by Juno’s old memories. Essentially, she wasn’t wrong, that house was used in ‘Halloween’, Michael did killed people in there, but it wasn’t the Myers-house.

My goal here is not to bash Juno for the interview, because she played along and maybe she honestly believed in what she said, I just wish to point out how this story’s not entirely true.
