ETOnline: ‘Vinyl’ Star Juno Temple on Threesomes With Mick Jagger’s Son and Hopes for Season 2

Appearing on screen since she was 17, Juno Temple has celebrated a few firsts on set – especially on Vinyl, the HBO drama about a record executive desperately trying to keep his label afloat. Temple, now 26, plays Jamie Vine, an ambitious assistant who has her eyes set on a permanent A&R position and the sexy lead singer of the Nasty Bits played by James Jagger. (Yes, the son of The Rolling Stones lead singer and co-creator of Vinyl, Mick Jagger.)

Vinyl just so happens to be the starlet’s first series, following a string of notable film roles, including Atonement, The Dark Knight Rises, Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, and Black Mass. “I was pretty terrified about the idea of TV, if I’m being truly honest,” Temple tells ET ahead of the series’ finale, which airs on Sunday, April 17.

“What if I want to do an independent film in Milwaukee or Australia? You’ve locked yourself down. It’s kind of a daunting thought,” Temple explains. Now that she’s survived the first season, however, she’s grown comfortable with the commitment, which she compares to a marriage, as well as the fear of wanting to philander with other projects.

Josh Lucas, Adam Scott, Juno Temple Join Netflix Drama ‘Most Hated Woman in America’

Juno Temple has joined the cast of ‘Hated Woman’ ! She also posted a photo of her character on her instagram:

Josh Lucas, Adam Scott, and Juno Temple have joined the cast of The Most Hated Woman in America, the Netflix movie being produced by Elizabeth Banks and Max Handelman’s Brownstone Productions.

Vincent Kartheiser (Mad Men), Rory Cochran (Black Mass), Michael Chernus (Mistress America), Sally Kirkland (Counting Des Moines), Anna Camp (Pitch Perfect) and Alex Frost (See You in Valhalla) have also joined the drama, which started shooting this week in Los Angeles.

Laura Rister of Untitled Entertainment is also producing.

Hated Woman is based on the true story of Madalyn Murray O’Hair (Leo), an American atheist activist who convinced the Supreme Court to overturn prayer in public schools and was later kidnapped and murdered by a former member of her organization along with her son and granddaughter. Beset by controversy, O’Hair was named “the most hated woman in America” by Life magazine in 1964.

“The colorful and complex story of Madalyn Murray O’Hair has been a passion of ours for several years and could not be more timely,” Banks and Handelman said in a joint statement. “We’re thankful for both the commitment of Tommy and Melissa and the support of Netflix in seeing this film to production.”

Lucas recently wrapped the indie drama Youth In Oregon while Scott, who last appeared in the horror-comedy Krampus, is part of the ensemble cast of HBO’s prestige series Big Little Lies that also stars Nicole Kidman and Reese Witherspoon.

Temple was seen in Black Mass and stars on HBO’s Vinyl.

Brownstone’s slate includes Pitch Perfect 3, which Banks directed, and a reboot of Charlie’s Angels. They are also developing adaptations of the books White Girl Problems and Heist Society for Lionsgate.

‘Vinyl’ Breakout Juno Temple on HBO’s Male-Dominated Drama for Hollywood Reporter

"Yeah, it means I spend a lot of time with dudes, but that’s alright," says the 26-year-old actress. From Olivia Wilde to Bobby Cannavale to Ray Romano, HBO’s Vinyl is filled with stars — but it’s a lesser-known name who steals the show.

Juno Temple makes her television debut in the 1970s-set music drama from Martin Scorsese and Mick Jagger as Jamie, a feisty, cutthroat assistant at a struggling record label. Determined to stand out in a man’s world, she’s hand-picked a band (“The Nasty Bits,” whose lead singer is played by Jagger’s son, James Jagger) that’s caught the attention of her boss. Now, she’s banking on them getting her that promotion.

Up to this point, the London-born Temple, 26, has lined her résumé with films (most recently Meadowland, opposite Wilde, and Black Mass), but it was the pilot script from Terence Winter (Boardwalk Empire, The Wolf of Wall Street) that drew the actress to the medium she says she once eschewed.

“Dude, can I be honest? I think television is where it’s at,” she tells The Hollywood Reporter. “They’re making the bravest choices. F—king hell, it’s really cool. I’m really excited to be a part of a TV show.”

Ahead of the drama’s fourth episode, Temple talks to THR about her obsession with the ‘70s, working with Scorsese and Jagger and why she doesn’t mind being one of the lone women on the show.

New Project: “The Big Short”

Juno has joined a new project! “The Big Short” will star Juno as Sydney and Jamie Shipley who has two characters. Shooting will start in LA next month.

After winning plaudits as naïve young investor Jamie Shipley in The Big Short, Finn Wittrock is getting ready for an assignment that may prove even more challenging: playing two characters in indie movie Abe.

The American Horror Story star will portray the title character, an introvert who spends his time on video games, and Abe’s best friend, the rock star-like bad boy Logan. The twist: Logan exists only in Abe’s imagination. Tensions build when Abe meets and falls in love with the cool and quirky Sydney, played by Juno Temple (Black Mass, Far From the Madding Crowd, Maleficent, the upcoming HBO series Vinyl).

Los Angeles-based Australian director Sarah Spillane starts shooting the psychological drama in L.A. next month. Coronet Films’ Deborah Del Prete (The Wedding Planner, Green Street Hooligans, The Submarine Kid) is producing in association with Melissa Beauford and Spillane’s Kick Pictures. Spillane co-wrote the screenplay with Mischa Ayoub (Double Negative).

Last year Del Prete and Wittrock collaborated on The Submarine Kid. Spillane had been an admirer of the actor since she saw him on Broadway in Death of a Salesman with the late Phillip Seymour Hoffman and Andrew Garfield.

Temple was their first choice to play Sydney. “I have always been a huge fan of her work and was kind of stunned when she responded so positively to the script,” Spillane said. “After she first read it, we met for coffee and immediately connected. I think chemistry between the actors is super important in stories like this so Finn, Juno, and I had lunch about a week after my first meeting with Juno and there were sparks (and multiple fits of laughter) immediately.”

5 Things to Know About Juno Temple

If you haven’t heard of Juno Temple yet, you soon will.
The up-and-coming British actress starred opposite Angelina Jolie in the summer blockbuster “Maleficent” and has a role beside Johnny Depp in the upcoming Whitey Bulger flick, “Black Mass.”
Part of a crop of hot young actresses making a name in Hollywood and the indie film world, the 25-year-old actress was singled out last year by the public, which voted to award her the EE Rising Star BAFTA Award.
“There are some truly extraordinary young women actresses right now, like Jennifer Lawrence, Mia Wasikowska, Elizabeth Olsen,” the Somerset, England-born actress told her “Horns” co-star, Daniel Radcliffe, for the inaugural issue of Heroine magazine. “You watch them and you forget sometimes that you’re even watching them. They are so young but know the craft in such an old way, and I love that so much. So if the job doesn’t go your way, you’re just as excited to see the film anyway.”

But lately, things have been going Temple’s way, like adopting a Boston accent to play opposite Depp.
“Johnny Depp playing Whitey Bulger was just one of the most amazing transitions I’ve ever seen,” she told Radcliffe for Heroine. “He had these crazy contact lenses in his eyes that almost reminded me of lizards, so when you were acting with him you were genuinely quite frightened, but he was lovely, so encouraging.”
Here are five things you need to know about Temple:
She Comes From a Rebel Family
Her father, Julien Temple, a fan of punk music, directed the 1979 Sex Pistols documentary “The Great Rock and Roll Swindle,” as well as videos for The Rolling Stones and The Kinks. Her aunt, Nina Temple, was the last secretary of the British Communist Party, and her grandfather, Langdon Temple, once ran a travel agency specializing in Communist countries.
She Grew Up in a Fairytale House
Temple grew up with her father, mother Amanda Pirie, a producer, and two younger brothers in a 14th century house in Taunton, Somerset.
“As kids, we lived in this magical world and roamed free in the gardens,” she told The Telegraph earlier this year. “I was constantly in fancy dress and in character as a kid.”
No surprise, then, that Temple has a thing for fairies and flipped when she got the chance to play one beside Jolie, even if most of her time on set was spent filming in a “giant white room wearing a wet suit with ping pong balls all over it,” as she told Heroine. “I had all these ink dots all over my face and I was filming with a 10-foot-tall version of Angelina Jolie’s face.”
She Got Started as Child Actress
It’s no surprise, given her childhood, that Temple announced to her parents that she wanted to become an actress. Her first role, at 8, was in one of her father’s films. At age 12, she auditioned and won the role of Cate Blanchett’s sulky teenage daughter in “Notes on a Scandal.” By the time she left boarding school, she had worked on 11 films, and her co-star in “St Trinian’s 2: The Legend of Fratton’s Gold,” Rupert Everett, helped her write her essay for completing her secondary education.
Though she’s 25, Temple can still look like a child actress.
“I’m still at a stage where sometimes I look 18,” she told Radcliffe. “Some days people tell me I look 14, which is a bit of a shock … and then sometimes I look 25.”
She Prefers Character to Leading Lady Roles
Temple has already been cast in more than 30 film roles, including a 12-year-old girl whose virginity is offered as collateral to Matthew McConaughey’s hit man, a schizophrenic insomniac and a woman who is raped and murdered.
“I usually like to play a woman who’s got s*** going on,” she told The Telegraph. “I’m not sure I ooze leading lady, I’m not the high school catch. I’ve been lucky with characters.”
Her Boyfriend Is a Fellow Actor
Temple lives with her boyfriend, actor Michael Angarano, whom she met on the set of 2012′s “Brass Teapot,” in a 1920s Los Angeles bungalow filled with vintage clothes and British flags. According to The Telegraph, she once collected Angarano from the airport in nothing but underwear, heels and a raincoat.
